Yeshambel Ayicheh began carving wood as a young boy in Ethiopia, learning from master artisans who had practiced the craft for generations. Today, from his studio in San Francisco, he creates extraordinary pieces "” sacred altar shrines, royal throne chairs, ornate crosses, and grand church doors "” combining traditional hand carving with modern woodworking techniques.
Most of the intricate details are shaped by hand using traditional wood chisels and carving tools, with modern equipment used for precision and efficiency. Every piece receives his personal touch, patience, and decades of devotion to the craft.
